Fabric Conditioner

If someone had told us years ago that we would one day be saying “we make our own fabric conditioner”, we just would not have believed you. But now we can and do say that!

This fabric conditioner is super easy and fun to make. We love the fact that we can choose the aroma we want and that we can change it every time we make a new batch, if we feel like it.

Instead of spending time in the supermarket having a cheeky sniff of the various fabric conditioners, we can now just go our essential oils and sniff those instead!

There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to choosing which essential oils to use to make your fabric conditioner.

You can use a single essential oil like Lavender or Ylang Ylang, a pre-made blend like Purify, or you can make your own blend like Tangerine and Lime. Let your imagination go wild!

Ingredients

2 tbs Bicarbonate of Soda

830ml Apple Cider Vinegar

180ml Hot Water

20 drops of dōTERRA essential oil (Geranium produces a light and floral aroma)

At least a 2L bottle (because of the bubble reaction when you combine the ingredients).

Method

Mix the water and apple cider vinegar together.

Then - very slowly - add the bicarbonate of soda.

Add the essential oil / essential oils and shake well (this was the fun bit!)

Leave to settle and then add approximately four tablespoons per wash.

The Verdict

Sylvia says:

“This is quite an expensive product to make unless you buy the Apple Cider Vinegar in bulk!. So, buy the Apple Cider Vinegar in bulk! The end result is good and my clothes smelled fresh and felt soft. It is great fun to make and you can use your favourite essential oil to customise the conditioner. The bonus is that this fabric conditioner will also clean your washing machine”.
